CityTools respects each individual's right to personal privacy. We will collect and use information through our Web site only in the ways disclosed in this statement. This statement applies solely to information collected at CityTools'Web site.

Part I. Information Collection

CityTools collects information through our Web site at several points. In each case the information is voluntarily given by users. In order to register with CityTools, we collect the following information to establish an account: e-mail address, personal password, home zip code and user name alias.

Demographic information such as zip codes are collected solely for the purposes of assisting in customization for site visitors.

Additional information, particularly for personal accounts, may be collected as well. The full uses of this information will be disclosed when it is requested.

CityTools does not actively market to children, and we never knowingly ask a child under 13 to divulge personal information.

We collect the following general data that is not personally identifiable information, access IP address, access time, session id. This information may be stored in the form of cookies, small text files on a users computers, to increase usability of the CityTools' sites. No information stored in cookies will be personally identifiable to third parties.

We collect this information through registration forms, automatic logging files, an other automated means. Peronally identifiable information is collected voluntarily. We do employ cookies. A cookie is a small text file that our Web server places on a user’s computer hard drive to be a unique identifier. Cookies enable CityTools to track usage patterns and deliver customized content to users. Our cookies have an expiration date of 12 hours unless a user, when logging in, specifically requests to remain logged in from a given computer until the user decideds to log out. Our cookies do not collect personally identifiable information.

Banner advertising appearing on our Web site may collect the following information: a record of what banners have been presented to you already. At this time, no third parties collect information at our Web site.

Part II. Information Usage.

The information collected by CityTools will be used solely by CityTools to provide services to its customers.

Registered users will receive additional announcements from us about products, services, special deals, and/or newsletters. The receipt of all such information will be a the sole discretion of users on an opt-in basis. Out of respect for the privacy of our users we present the option to not receive these types of communications.

The information we collect will be used to create customer profiles based on browsing or, in ratings and review areas, rating history. We will not supplement information collected at our Web site with data from other sources, such as credit card history. We offer links to other Web sites. Please note: When you click on links to other Web sites, we encourage you to read their privacy policies. Their standards may differ from ours.

Our Web site offers a variety of public forums, citizen journalism areas, rating areas. Please be advised that information posted in these venues becomes public knowledge.

If our policy on information collection or uses changes, will advise you by a notice at login, or, if you have chosen to permit e-mail from us, an e-mail message.

Users may access their own personal information and make changes that they desire by following the "Your Preferences" link that appears on almost every page on CityTools.

CityTools protects user information with the following security measures: secure servers, firewalls, SSL encryption and other technology and procedures used to protect consumer privacy.

Part VI. E-Mail address privacy

CityTools will not disclose member e-mail addresses to any third party for any reason not covered by a legal action (see next section for more details). Any service on CityTools that relies on e-mail for communication will be entirely opt-in and the scope of the usage will be full explained to members.

Part VII. Legal inquiries surrounding CityTools usage

CityTools has watched with alarm as the trend of generalized fishing expeditions by governmental entities has grown. With that in mind, CityTools intends to vigorously defend against subpoenas issued seeking member information, provided such subpoenas have the obvious intention of threatening free speech amongst our members.

The exception to this will be in cases that are egregious abuses of our terms of service (for example, child pornography or other similarly severe abuses), use of the system for false or fraudulent commercial purposes or use of the service for computer crime.

Furthermore, certain governments have demonstrated a distasteful zeal with respect to censoring comments by their citizens and CityTools has no plans to do business in such countries, thus keeping ourselves outside the reach of their laws.
