Why do I sometimes see the same name more than once?

It's possible that it's a common name and it appears in many places.

Also, sometimes it might be a county name. For example of you search for San Francisco, you get results that include San Francisco county, the city of San Francsico, the San Franciso bay area, and more.

That's why we add a little extra discriptive information with each result -- like "san francisco (a county in california)" to help you find the place you want.

How to a see content from other locations?

It's easy!
We've already pulled some popular destinations for you -- all you need to do is click on those and we'll take you there. (Remember, if you don't find any content in the time frame selected, you can always expand the time frame!) If your chosen destination isn't on our predefined list, simply do a full text search on the term you want (or even the first few letters of the place name). We'll search out database of locations and give you options based on what we find. You can click on the options and then select a "vist your-chosen-location" link and we'll take you there.

Once I'm done visiting a place, how do I change the view to show content from everywhere, or from my home region?

All you need to do is click the "everywhere" link on the toolbar above virtually all content lists on CityTools. Once you do that, you change the view to see everything again.

I typed in a name and didn't get results back, what gives?

One of a couple of things might be happening: 1) Perhaps you mistyped the name, or used an abbreviation. Try the long form instead. 2) you might have typed a name we don't have in our database. Our geographic dataabase is deep -- going right down to the neighborhood level in some cases. Generally speaking our coverage of the US, Canada, UK and Australia is very deep. And we have countries all over the world. But that doesn't mean that we didn't miss something -- so if you REALLY can't find it, it's probably something we need to add.
