Smart networks category mapping

Get information the way you need it

  • Getting information from others doesn't do you any good if you can't get it in the way you want it. That's where the CityTools category tools comes in.
  • We provide a simple way for you -- and every member of the network -- to specify how your information maps to that of others. That way everyone gets information organized just the way they want.
  • Typically you only have to do this one time per network -- using our smart wizard to guide you it only takes a few minutes -- and after that it's an invisible, automated process.
  • But, if your needs or information changes later, you can always go back and edit your maps -- or even run the wizard again

Our import tools support most editorial front ends

  • There are loads of editorial front ends and CityTools supports file formats that cover nearly all of them.
  • We directly support imports in XML, CSV, pipe delimited or tab delimited asci formation. In addition, CityTools supports the native exports from Morris Communications classified systems (we're fans of their stuff). It has been tested with output of other front ends, such as Pre1, Baseview, etc.
  • Likewise the files you get from CityTools can be imported into nearly any web or print publishing system. Our output formats are XML, CSV, RSS (that's right you get an RSS feed of the network files ready to go directly online), and pipe delimited.
  • Because sometimes editorial and classified advertising teams get intimidated with technology, we've even got boilerplate e-mails you can send to your IT professionals that spell out exactly the info you (and we) need.
  • Best of all you only have to mess with the maps once per network and once that's done, everything flows in a fully automated manner. We provide detailed scripts to automate the uploads and downloads for nearly any system.
