Passcode overview

If you are the adminstrator of an invitation-only network you are given a special passcode that people must use to sign up for your network.

We have designed these passcodes to be easy to give to people over the phone, or in e-mail, etc. At the same time, the passcodes resist cracking -- so people who you don't know can't join your network.

It only takes one click to change a membership passcode

You may change your passcode at any time by going to the Manage page and scrolling down to the invitaiton-only network you wish to change. Click the "change passcode link" (lower left corner) and you will be given a new passcode.

When you change the passcode, from that point forward, anyone who wants to sign up must have the new code.

A security scenario with passcodes
Because passcodes are so easy to change, in a high security environment, you could create a passcode, email it to the member you want to join and then immediately change the passcode once that person has joined. Since no one but you has the new passcode, no one can join your network until you give them the new code.
