First a few words of caution

Bear in mind that other members of the network rely on your network categories. Changing the names of a network category will not affect members' maps related to that category (all categories use an underlying id that you can't change).

However, changing the name of a category could prove quite confusing to other members if the name is very different than the original. We suggest you change network category names only when there is compelling reason.

We also recommend that you send other members of the network a broadcast message informing them of the change. Make sure to be clear that they don't have to alter their existing category maps in response to the name change.

Renaming network categories

Head to the Maps management page and scroll down to the network you want to change.

Click on the link for "Rename network categories." This will open a window in which your existing network categories are presented on the left with a blank text box to the right.

Find the name of the network category you want to change and type the new name in the box to the right of the category.

Change as many categories as you like and then click the "save categories" button.
