15 minutes to create (or join) your first network

Heck, just to make things fun, we'll show you how to sign up for CityTools and create your publisher tools too! But it might really take 25 minutes.

What you will need before starting
You can get started with CityTools without the elements below, but to do the full "15-minute Howto" and have a fully functional network, you will need the first two items below before starting. The third and fourth items are not required, but handy.

Required to finish a complete network
  • A file dump of your classifieds and/or news feed. You'll need a copy of this file accessible on your local machine because you will upload this to CityTools during setup. (details)
  • You will need to know which column (aka field) in the file dump contains the category information. (details)
Optional:
  • Highly recommended if you plan to create networks: A list in electronic form of all your unique classified or news categories. Not necessary if you plan to join a network someone else set up.
  • An e-mail alias (that is forwarded to your actual e-mail account) that will be used to manage the publisher account. (Details here)
  • The name, e-mail address and phone number of a tech contact within your company.
Once you have these elements it's time to start the 15-Minute setup process.
