Step 3 option: Creating a Network

To create a network, click on the “create new network” link in the upper right area of the “manage” page.

If you want, you may create a real network or you can simply create a test network to kick the tires of the system. In any case, click the "create new network" link now.

You will be given a network creation form. It's easy and it's fast.

  • Name your network – this must be unique among all networks because it would be confusing to others if multiple networks had the same name. If the name you choose is already taken, you'll be invited to pick a new name.
  • Pick a network type. There are different options later, depending on the type you pick here. If you're creating a test network, pick “news” or “general classifieds.” Here is a detailed discussion of different network types.
  • Description. Please provide a brief description of your network. If you choose to create a network that is visible to others, the description can be handy.
  • Choose your membership options. A discussion of the different membership approaches can be found in the tip box to the right of the "create network" page. At this point you may select whichever membership option you like. You can change membership options for a network at any time.

Click "Create network" and, provided there are no errors to fix, you're done with Step 3.
