Everyone tells you that New York has the best pizza in the country. I took it upon myself to ferret out the best pies the Big Apple has to offer.
1DiFara's
1424 Avenue J, Brooklyn. (at 15th St.)
The Holy Grail of pizza. The best slice I've ever had. Believe the hype.

2Pizza Box
On Bleecker between MacDougal and Sullivan.
This scarcely known place reminds me of "high school" pizza; the place you used to sneak out between classes and grab an oily slice that tasted far better than it was supposed to. The crust is crispy and perfect. Pizza Box. Garden in the back, party in your mouth!

3Arturo's
At Houston and Thompson.
A great "designer" pizza place, with an excellent crust, good toppings and a romantic (though noisy) atmosphere.

4Lombardi's Pizza
32 Spring Street (at Mott).
This is perhaps the most famous pizza place in the village, usually neck–in-neck with John’s. Though John's was disappointing, (see full review) Lombardi's is still a top contender.
