Before signing on to play Charlotte in "Sex and the City," Kristin Davis had appeared on "Melrose Place" as a sophisticated conniving viper. Her contract wasn't renewed after a year because viewers had grown to hate her character.

Davis took no chances with "Sex." She may not be the smartest or the thinnest or the most sexually acrobatic of the Manhattan foursome, but Charlotte is far and away the nicest. She's the buddy everyone would adore to have - on hand to celebrate happy moments and commiserate in sad ones. Jealousy seems to be an unknown emotion.

Charlotte will be even more available to friends Carrie, Miranda and Samantha in the feature film "Sex and the City."
