The Mill Valley minors all-star team was staring elimination in the face on Saturday, trailing 2-0 in the third inning and needing a victory against Benicia to keep its season alive in the Section 1 tournament.
Tyler Barbee belted a double off the wall to score Mill Valley's first run, igniting a six-run rally that led to a 6-3 Mill Valley win.
"We lost five players from the district championship team with vacations, so we're playing with a lot of guts and determination," Mill Valley Little League president Ken Praszker said. "The third inning seems to be magic for us every game. We've blown it open in the third."
Barbee went 3-for-3, drove in a run and scored for Mill Valley (3-1). Starting pitcher Jack Elias followed Barbee's RBI double with a two-run single. Rob Meager hit an RBI double and Mason Collins added an RBI double in the third (more...)
