Doris Lessing had to wait until she was 87 to receive her Nobel Prize in literature last year; five young authors are being saluted a bit sooner. The National Book Foundation is paying tribute to these fiction writers younger than 35, chosen by previous National Book Award winners and finalists. They’re being honored for producing work that is “particularly promising and exciting and is among the best of a new generation of writers,” the foundation said.
